Is it just me or do you spend hours gazing at other people’s kitchens on pinterest and in magazines. Do you hover around the paint swatches at Lowes or Home Depot musing about the perfect shade of green/pink/white…. I’ve got a lovely kitchen, it’s one of my favorite rooms in the house, it’s even got a pretty sofa to curl up on but somehow I just can’t help swooning over other peoples. I love picking up on their ways of infusing interest and whimsy.
They don’t have to be big or grand, they just have to have warmth and charm. They tell you all about the people who own and cook in them. They allow us to see their quirks, their likes and dislikes, it’s like peeping into a person’s character.
I surprise myself sometimes with what I love. I adore charm and whimsy but I also need order, cleanliness and get irritable with clutter. So why am I so bewitched by this slightly chaotic kitchen below? It’s so charming with it’s yellow backsplash, chalkboard cupboard and eclectic decorations. It just looks happy, lived in and loved.
As a cookbook hoarder this is a thing of beauty. And the copper pans – and the hydrangeas – swoon…
For the more budget conscious a whimsical way of corralling your cookbooks.
A simple rustic shelving unit can become whimsical and interesting. It can draw your eye and tell a story. This makes me smile..
How about this one? it looks fun doesn’t it, you can imagine art projects going on here. I love the colors…
So is it just me? or could you pass a happy hour swooning over other people’s kitchens. Are they big and grand or fun and whimsical? Perhaps it’s not kitchens for you, is it bathrooms or vegetable gardens or maybe serene meditation corners? What’s your pleasure?
