At the first sign of any sniffles, it’s mid January after all, make these Immunity Shots!

You only need to look at the color of these immunity shots to know they’re going to do you good! I was just beginning to feel I had got away without succumbing to a winter cold until I woke up the other morning with my nose streaming, sore throat and a cough. Ugh. I pulled out the juicer and got cracking. These little beauties were the deliciously nutritious results. I’m pretty much cold free now, three days after the initial onslaught.

Choose one or go all out and make all three:) Here’s the Sunshine Immunity Shot! The magic is as follows:

  1. Oranges – Vitamin C
  2. Lemon – Vitamin C
  3. Turmeric – anti inflammatory
  4. Ginger – anti inflammatory

Next up: Pink Paradise Shot:

  1. Beetroot – anti inflammatory
  2. Cucumber – hydrating
  3. Ginger – anti inflammatory

Look at that gorgeous color, can’t you just see the antioxidants!

Last but certainly not least the Green Machine:

  1. Kale – the ultimate leafy green, kale is full of antioxidants
  2. Celery – cleansing with plenty of potassium
  3. Lemon – Vitamin C
  4. Ginger – anti inflammatory
  5. Parsley – Vitamin K and anti inflammatory
  6. Apple – full of antioxidants, flavanoids, and dietary fiber

What’s the difference between a Juice and a Smoothie?

Good question! Both are fantastic but here are the basics:

  1. Juicing: extracts the liquid from the fruits and vegetables, thereby removing most of the fiber. We’re left with all the nutritious amazing plant vitamins, minerals and enzymes which drench your system pretty much immediately upon drinking. Our bodies absorb all the nutrients straight away without having to digest the fiber.
  2. Smoothies: are really more like a meal. The whole fruit or vegetable is used, usually with some plant milk or other nutritious liquid. All the fiber is in tact which is heart healthy and gut friendly.

Ingredients

Scale

Sunshine Shots

3 oranges, peeled

1 lemon, peeled

1/41/2 inch knob of fresh ginger, peeled

1/2 inch knob of fresh turmeric, peeled

Pink Paradise Shots

3 beetroots, washed, leaves removed

1 English cucumber

1 lemon, peeled

Green Machine Shots

1 bunch kale, washed

34 sticks celery

1 lemon, peeled

1/2 inch knob of fresh ginger, peeled

1 bunch fresh parsley

1 apple (optional – for sweetness)

Instructions

Juice the ingredients for each shot.
